What Would Have Happened if the South Would Have Won?

I have oftened wondered what would have happened if the South would have won the War of Northern Aggression, also known as the War Between the States and The Civil War.

It is hard for me to understand how President Lincoln decided to forcibly make the southern states remain a part of the Union. It seems to me that if a group of people, i.e. a state, would freely join the Union, why they could not freely disscociate from that union if that became their wish.

Several northern states threatened strongly to secede from the Union a few years before the southern states actually did. I am also amazed that they would go to war with states that acted on the same threats they, the northern states, had made.

Is the United States a free country? Not really. I do believe it is the greatest country in the world at this time though. I think it would still be a great country had President Lincoln not attacked and murdered the many hundreds of thousands of southerners. I also believe the Confederate States of America would have been a great country in it's own right. I like the idea of states running themselves and not being run by a centralized government that is thousands of miles away. I believe that political correctness would not be such a major problem in the southern states like it has become in the United States. I, for one, am tired of the north eastern liberals dictating how our country is run.

If the South would have won, I believe that in most of the southern states, abortion would be illegal, it would be legal for municipalities to have nativity scenes, frivolous lawsuits would not be so rampant and common sense would rule in every day life instead of the insanity we see. As a matter of fact, I think the population in the North would be much lower than the population in the South because people simply wouldn't want to live with the problems that the United States is facing today.

I found a very interesting article on this very subject. You can click here to read it.

What do you think would have happened if the south would have won?

I think there would be more very scary individuals like yourself. Are you purposely not mentioning the enslavement of blacks that gave the southern states prosperity through free labour? Perhaps you are a supporter of slavery? You decry Islam when you christian fundamentalists are every bit as radical as the Taliban. There is no hope for America, north or south.

Like the Taliban huh? Yes, we demand that our little girls NOT go to school or get any kind of an education. We senselessly murder innocent people when they don't believe exactly as we do. We make women wear veils and sentence them to raped in our courts when they are caught walking down the street with any man besides their father or brothers.
Yes, I would say (sarcastically) that fundamentalist Christians are just as bad as the Taliban.

Okay here is a scenario where the South Wins.

Suppose that Jeb Stuarts Calvary were successful in breaking through to the Union rear and linking up with Pickett’s charge defeating the Union Army at Gettysburg and possibly forcing a deal with Washington. Well now there are two sovereign nations making up what is now the US. Or lets take it a step further, say after the war Lincoln’s Government lost all credibility and was ousted in a coup and the Confederacy had taken control of the Nation as a whole. The world would be a much different place today. Although racism would almost certainly remain rampant slavery would probably have died out on it's own as the industrial revolution began to pick up pace, even though that seems a little optimistic. It's not until you get to the World Wars that this really begin to change things. I imagine that the Politics of the South would have been more aligned with Axis interests thereby changing the balance of power during the World Wars, more importantly the Second World War. Imagine a world were America fought on the side of the Axis. Europe would have fallen under Nazi control including Great Britain. In this case Germany may have been successful during Operation Barbarossa and defeated Russia with help from the Confederate America. Also I doubt democracy would have lasted in America. There might have been wars of Imperialism within North America involving incursions into Mexico and Canada possibly. Basically I can see no way how the South winning the "CIVIL WAR" would have been good for the world. The Civil War was much more than a War Between the States, it was a war determining the future of democracy and decency. And furthermore the South’s delusional view of liberty was morally devoid of any value at all. The bottom line is the South lost and we are free because of the Caucasians and African Americans alike. With all the History channel you claim to watch you would think you would have a realistic opinion about how world affairs would have shaped up in you demonic and horrific thought experiment. Do some research instead of making arbitrary statements about possible paths of history.

I found this because I just watched Sherman's march, and his brutality and distruction of a large part of The United States.
I wondered also why the South could not seceed from the Union.
Lincoln decided that. It was wrong, though, that the South was built on the backs of human slaves. It was wrong, no matter who was to blame for it to have ever happened anywhere or at anytime. So I guess if the south would rather die then give up their slaves, the civil war had to happen.
